Hi, my name is Jane and I guess my story is no different to many of yours reading this. I met my partner Graeme 17 years ago at just 20 years old. Be one of those "crazy" people that maps out their ovulation date. Go to babycenter.com for really precise advice on how do find out that date and what times of day to have sex. Then you can read all the other baby things on the website, they are very very interesting.

But to sum it up, hitting that egg drop date is your best bet.

The Paxil worked like magic and soon after I got my first boyfriend. I got pregnant and had to stop taking it,which was fine for a while. Soon I was back where I started and now it’s even worse. I have a 5 month old daughter and a boyfriend that just doesn’t understand my anxiety and irrational thoughts/fears. So I keep them bottled up and I don’t talk about them to anyone.

What to do?

Been there. (but not a mother). I had obsessions really bad and anxiety and panic attacks and depression. (I am a women as well). Now I’ve been in remission for over year. It is very common for women to develop OCD and anxiety after having a baby. But it’s very treatable. Basically, you need to see an experienced Psychologist ASAP. By experienced, I mean a mental health professional (PsyD, PhD, or LCSW) who has training and experience in OCD treatment. How do you find one? Well, if you feel comfortable, you can go to your GP and ask for a referral. (I did not do this, but many do). You can go on ocfoundation.org and search their directory. You can google "OCD, Anxiety clinics" & your area and see what comes up. (this is what I did) You can contact your insurance company or look on their website and identify therapists who would probably help. You may need to contact several therapists in order to find one that has openings. Don’t be discouraged. It’ll work out. Therapy is a short term thing, but very helpful. You want to be doing cognitive-behavioral therapy or something similar or a combination of CBT and something else.

In the meantime, make sure to take time out for yourself each day. Also meditation is helpful. As is exercise. There are also many good books on OCD, so if you want to learn more, you should check on out. I usually recommend Jon Grayson’s Freedom from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder because I know it’s scientifically sound and has a lot of good self-help tips.

PS. In some cases, medication does really help OCD & Anxiety, but it really should only be used in conjunction with therapy. Your therapist will help determine if medication might be helpful and refer you to a psychiatrist. (don’t use your GP unless you absolutely have to)

I went to my DR. a few days later and the gestational sac had grown to 8.9mm and had a yolk sac (5 weeks, 2 days). I went this last Monday (6weeks 4 days) and everything has continued to progress and we saw a heartbeat at 121 bpm.

You may just be really early…especially if you have PCOS. All you can do is wait and hope those levels keep going up. I sincerely hope everything works out for you.

If she is 5 weeks she will have been a week late for her period when she found out she was pregnant. It doesn’t sound good. Bright red blood loss can be a sign of miscarriage and early on it may not even be that heavy as there isn’t much to pass. The only way she can know for sure though is to get checked out. If the bleeding calms down she should be ok for the rest of her holiday but should get checked as soon as she comes home. However she should be aware the bleeding could return and become heavy with clots.

If it is a miscarriage she shouldn’t blame herself. It’s not likely anything she’s done and there is nothing doctors could do to stop it at this early stage.

It’s important to get checked out as if she has an incomplete miscarriage (which is unusual if she’s very early) it could cause an infection and make her very ill.
